Pakistan’s cricket fans were left disappointed as their team suffered a second consecutive crucial defeat, this time against Australia, following their earlier loss to India. Australia secured a convincing 62-run victory after setting a daunting target of 368 runs.

The Australian opening pair of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh played a pivotal role, forging a remarkable partnership of 259 runs, setting the stage for their team’s strong position.

The turning point of the match occurred when Usama Mir dropped a straightforward catch from David Warner, bowled by Shaheen Afridi, in the fourth over. This proved to be a costly mistake for Pakistan as Warner went on to score a magnificent 163 runs off 124 balls, including 14 boundaries and 9 sixes.

Had Usama Mir taken that catch, the outcome might have been different, and Pakistan’s chances could have improved. It’s worth noting that Usama Mir was making his debut in the tournament, replacing Shadab Khan.

Pakistan’s key pace bowler, Haris Rauf, had an expensive outing, conceding 83 runs in his eight overs. Despite taking three wickets and finishing well, he struggled to provide the strong start Pakistan needed. Haris also set an unwanted record by conceding the fastest fifty runs in ODI World Cup history, achieving this feat in just 21 balls.
